Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Certified (LCSW-C)

Hello, I’m Mary Peyton, I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker. Over the past 25 years, have worked with children and families and people of different cultural backgrounds who have struggled with a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges, because of their past trauma experiences.

My background is with working with children and families with extensive trauma history due to sexual abuse, child abuse and child neglect, who have difficulty with functioning in their daily life because of their past trauma experiences. By creating a safe and supportive environment, I will help you to explore how emotional and behavioral dysregulation can impact how you see yourself, the external world, and how you connect with others.

By creating an atmosphere that is non-judgmental and safe, together we will explore unhealthy thinking patterns and how these patterns can make you feel stuck within an unhealthy repetitive cycle. By developing skills to identify triggers, unhealthy behavioral responses, and reactions to trauma, you will learn new ways of “being” that will foster successful and positive outcomes as you are learning how to overcome trauma experiences that impact your daily living.

Together we will explore and adapt healthier ways of responding to trauma experiences, and other challenges, by creating a treatment plan that is specific to your emotional and behavioral needs as it relates to past traumatic experiences.

These new skills will help you with how you relate and communicate with yourself, your family and with others when faced with challenges. You will learn how to connect with yourself, your family and with others without falling into old patterns that do not work when triggered by past trauma experiencing or challenging circumstances. Together we will develop new patterns of thinking and reacting to challenges by getting rid of old patterns of responding to difficult or challenging situations by adapting skills that produces healthier and more positive outcomes.

My treatment modality is Play Therapy when working with children, with trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy, and other strength-based treatment approaches to address emotional and behavioral dysregulation related to trauma.

My goal is to help individuals, children and families to overcome their past trauma history, by teaching them how to build resiliency, by providing them with the skills they need for overcoming past trauma experiences in how it impacts their day-to-day life, in ways that produces long term results.
