I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) seeking to join you in your journey toward enhanced mental health, not above or below you, but with you. I specialize in the areas of substance use dependance (SUD) treatment, trauma, and behavioral health/mental health in general. I work primarily with the adult community (18+) utilizing interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and some psychoanalytic theory as well. My current work has me immersed in a diverse setting regarding experiences with many different mental health diagnoses. My work in substance use disorder treatment involves dual diagnosis treatment (treating substance use dependance and mental health disorders simultaneously). I believe strongly in holistic psychotherapy and treating the whole person, not just a disorder, which I believe is essential in providing collaborative care.
Other professional experiences include working with the veteran community. As a veteran myself (U.S. Army Retired), I feel it is of utmost importance to be able to meet people where they are through shared experiences. I have worked with veterans and their concerns surround the treatment of depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through the VA Maryland Healthcare System (VAMHCS).
Though we will be virtual, I feel it is important to express to my clients that their individual sessions will be conducted in a safe, warm, and healing environment. I live alone with my service dog, Sarge, who may make an appearance to say “hello” from time to time. Needless to say, your session will be confidential and conducted in a space with zero interruptions or privacy concerns.
